Getting Started

What you’ll need

iPhone running iOS 17 or later
Camera permission — only when you scan a barcode while adding a card
Photo Library permission — optional, only if you want to attach a custom logo image

First launch

When you open Scandio for the first time, the home screen is empty. Tap the + button in the top-right corner to add your first card.

Adding Cards

There are three ways to enter a card.

Manual entry

Tap +.
Card Name — type the store’s name (e.g. Biedronka, IKEA).
Barcode Type — Scandio auto-detects the type as you type the number. You can tap to change it.
Card Number — type or paste the number.
(Optional) Tile Color — pick a preset, or tap the rainbow swatch for a custom hex color.
Save.

For known store names, Scandio fills the brand colour and a built-in icon automatically (🐞 for Biedronka, 🛒 for Auchan, 💊 for Rossmann, 🪑 for IKEA, and many more).

Showing Your Barcode

Tap any card in the grid to display it full-screen for the cashier:

Card name at the top
The barcode in the middle, on a pure-white background for the cleanest scan
The card number below, formatted in groups of 4 for easy manual entry
Barcode type label at the bottom

Screen brightness automatically boosts to the level you set in Settings, then restores when you close the view. Tap the X in the top-right to close.

Quick Access

Mark cards you use often as favourites and they’ll appear at the top of the home screen in a swipeable carousel.

Long-press a card in the grid → Add to Favorites.
Repeat to remove.

The Quick Access carousel precaches its barcodes off the main thread, so opening a favourite card from the carousel is instant — there’s no loading frame between the grid and the full-screen view.

Search & Sort

Search

Pull down on the grid to reveal the search field, then type any part of a card name. The grid filters as you type.

Sort

Open Settings → Sort Cards By and choose one:

Alphabetical — by card name
Date Added — newest first
Last Used — most recently opened first

The sort applies immediately to both the home grid and the Quick Access carousel.

Editing Cards

Long-press any card to open its context menu:

Add to Favorites / Remove from Favorites — toggles the Quick Access carousel pin
Edit — opens the same form you used to add the card
Delete — confirms first, then permanently removes the card

Deletes are immediate and there’s no Trash, so the confirmation is your safety net. If you keep regular backups, a deleted card can be restored from a .scandiobackup file.

Backup & Restore

Open Settings (the gear icon top-right of the home screen) → Backup.

Export

Tap Export All Cards. Choose where to save the file — iCloud Drive, Files, AirDrop, anywhere iOS lets you save documents. The file extension is .scandiobackup. Logos are embedded as compressed images.

Import

Two ways:

Settings → Import Cards — pick a .scandiobackup file from Files.
Tap a .scandiobackup file in Files, Mail, or after AirDrop — iOS launches Scandio with the import already started.

Duplicates

If your backup contains cards that already exist (matching by name + number), Scandio shows a confirmation dialog:

The gear icon at the top-right of the home screen opens Settings. Tap Done to close.

Appearance & Language

Theme

Switch between Light, Dark, and System (follow iPhone’s appearance) under Settings → Appearance. The change is applied immediately.

The full-screen barcode view always uses Light mode internally, regardless of the app theme — that’s intentional to keep the barcode against a bright white background for cashier scanners.

Language

English and Polish are bundled. Pick one in Settings → Language, then tap Restart in the prompt. Scandio quits and the next launch is in your chosen language.

Same barcode in multiple stores

Some chains share the same loyalty-card barcode across brands. Add the card under each brand name you’ll use — either create them manually, or import a backup with Add as New Cards (see Backup & Restore).

Cashier rejects the scan

Increase the brightness boost in Settings → Barcode Display.
Wipe your screen — fingerprints scatter the laser.
For EAN-13, EAN-8, and ITF, the cashier can also enter the number manually using the digits printed below the barcode in the full-screen view.

Switching iPhones

On the old phone: Settings → Backup → Export All Cards.
AirDrop or email the .scandiobackup file to the new phone.
Tap the file. Scandio opens with import already running.

Your favourites, tile colours, logos, and category icons all transfer.
